Heritage Site list, in the old ‘Sala di Dante’, where, on May 7 th 1300, the Supreme Poet personally
met the town governors of the time…
…on those hills where only Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG – the only wine mentioned by
Dante in his ‘Divine Comedy’, one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature – is produced…
…on May 19 th 2021, the most evocative and exclusive wine tasting event in the world was held:

‘La Vernaccia in Commedia. Sei profili d’autore’

Dante was the protagonist of this memorable wine tasting event: six Vernaccia di San Gimignano
wine labels selected based on their quality, but also on the specific characteristics and peculiarities
given by the winemakers who produce this amazing wine.
The six Vernaccia wine labels were presented along with six great white wines with six different
European appellations.

6 pairs of wines were created with very similar stylistic characteristics and peculiarities, which were
then associated which as many female figures described in the Divine Comedy, based on their
character traits.
Our Vernaccia di San Gimignano Docg La Lastra 2019 was one of the 6 quality labels selected
for this exclusive tasting event.
It was paired with ‘Alto Adige Valle Isarco Veltliner Doc 2019 Kuen Hof’, an excellent wine from
Alto Adige.
Based on her character traits, Beatrice – the most popular female character in the Divine Comedy
and Dante’s muse – was the female figure paired with these two wines.

So, our Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG La Lastra, was compared to Dante’s Beatrice, and we
are very proud of it.
This woman, in fact, represented the ideal of sublime perfection, and, in the Divine Comedy she
symbolizes faith and truth, and she is the one who prays and intercedes for Dante and the salvation
of his soul.

2019 Kuen Hof are wines that are produced from different vine varieties and come from different
areas, but have very similar characteristics: they are both simple but elegant, have the same good
minerality and are both representative of their appellations.
